Angry Custom Builds Have No Skills?

Hi there, sorry if this has been asked before, but searching revealed nothing helpful...

I'm trying to create a custom build for PvP, but for some reason practically every single skill is locked. Am I doing something wrong or have custom builds been disabled in some way?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you want to make a custom build, you need unlock the skills you will need to use first. This is done by playing a RP char, and getting skills with it.

Ah, I see. That kinda' sucks. My RP character is only Level 7 and just got to post searing Ascalon City the other day. lol.

Ah well, I guess it's a good enough way to encourage me to play my RP character more.

You can get skill points from skill trainers as you do PvE content. I.e. you can get all the old ascalon area quest skills from Captain Osiric in Yak's bend for 1 skill point and some gold, or do the quests back in old ascalon.

I recommend saving them though mainly to capture those elite skills you want later. Since you use a skill point and gold to buy the signet of capture. And with being able to change your secondary, all those skill points become very precious when trying to unlock everything (unless you find it fun to re-do the entire 100+ hour pve campaign).

Edit: Ideally, I'm going to unlock everything with my monk, then make 3 pvp characters to swap between as needed. I figure it's a little faster than trying to recreate 3 RP characters to go through the content at a much lower, and slower lvl.

I have the impression that you can only unlock skills from your classes, hence why I am playing RP characters spread between them all.

the only skills OFFERED will be ones your present character can use
come back with a different class for the same persons quest and be offered completely different skills

Which I took to imply that he thought he can unlock all 6 classes with a single character. Are you saying I can unlock the skills for all the classes using a single character? I have so far only managed to unlock Ranger and Mesmer skills with my Ra/Me and Necromancer and Monk skills with my Nec/Mo, but if I am doing something wrong I'd love to know - though I have no idea how I missed it if it is possible. If you mean that the same quest may net different skills for my Nec/Mo and my Ra/Me, yes, that is why I am running the two builds at the same time, to unlock those four classes (I really need to make a War/Ele for the last 2, but I just don't like them...)

Late in the game, it's possible to switch your secondary. Then you can learn the skills for the new secondary.

Right, I know that. But that's still only 3 of the 6.

where do you get 3 from? You can switch your Mo/Me to a Mo/W to a Mo/E to a Mo/R to a Mo/N to a Mo/Me thereby unlocking all 6 classes

EDIT: You don't have to be a Mo primary thats just an example

Oh, I thought it was a one time switch, I didn't think you could jump through them. That's MUCH better. Must go do that!
